How does some smartphone film making with out the need of your very own personal camera man sound? With the Swivl they have created a useful looking smartphone and compact camera holder that will track your every move and for the test video it looks like it is quite a smooth tracking system without too many sudden jumps. The idea of gearing it towards video bloggers of all kinds is superb and it will be interesting to see new ways people can make use of it with their iPhone and Android apps. [via PSFK]

Last week I wrote about how I was very excited about attending the Unruly Tech night organised by their events co-ordinator, Emilie and I must say it turned out to a brilliant evening. Firstly the the Unruly office is absolutely stunning and we were instally greeted by the very kind team at Unruly. We were taking to the play room to get our hacking on and using the instructions were given freedom to create a mini robot masterpiece.

I have been keen on making a robot for a while as most tech lovers people probably are and so when I was kindly invited by Emilie Giles, who also runs MzTEK, to a free workshop I jumped at the chance. The Unruly Media team have organised a tech night where we will get a chance to hack together a mini robot called the ‘BeetleBot’. The tutors on the night are @me_backwards, @vikkiread and @timpickles so I apologise in advance if I cause a bit of a mess.

New ideas for physical meet digital in the mobile apps world are picking up steam and this new game from LEGO titled Life Of George could be a winner.

The idea of creating something in LEGO to challenge your speed with a timer adds the extra element of excitement. It also allows you to create your own models to share to the world. I am not sure on the size/colour limitations but that could mean some great contests and battle oppurtunites.

The evolution I would love to see in this is by allowing you to create and compete with more complicated 3D models instead of just flat 2D designs. How interesting would it be to combine it with a 3D scanning app like the trimensional app
